Soooo good Heidi. I love The Pink Zones, your work, and the ideas you bring to the front of culture to discuss and re-think. 💜

I can see the bond of love and caring between you and your mum. There is such warmth and such genuine joy in those photos. Beautiful. And I love how you have found in this very difficult experience a kind of invitation to think about mothering so deeply. I think you are so right about the way mothering extends far beyond the boundaries of the traditional role. Mothers of all kinds give so much to the world in countless small and enormous ways.

Thank you for sharing your journey and your thoughts. Both are so valuable. xo

This is so beautiful, Heidi! The love between you and your mother is heartwarming to read. And as sad as it is to read about her Alzheimer’s, it is so good to know she is so wonderfully being taken care of.

My mother spent her last years in a similar care home in Arizona. The people who took care of her were warm, kind, caring, and extraordinarily good at their work. They showered her with love and affection. I am eternally grateful to them.

Thank you Cathy. What you wrote about your mum this past year and her passing was also really moving. Our mothers are complex and of course our relationships with them and their care is also! Add dementia to the mix and it's certainly not for the faint of heart. It feels good to be in good company. :)

Dementia affected both of my parents. I am so sorry you are both going through this. As you say, it is not for the faint of heart. 💕
