Hello, Heidi. I’m so grateful for our little group and cannot wait to see everyone again. It’s funny - I’ve never been much of a joiner (at all), even in school where I existed mostly on the edges of the social scene. But something has shifted for me profoundly over the last few years. I don’t know if it was the experience of living through COVID, my daughter growing up (she just turned 21!!), the first horrific term of the current US president (and now this one), entering my mid fifties, going through menopause… so many possible factors. But now I am suddenly feeling the need for community in a way I never thought I would. And I am finding joy in the little pickets of time I spend with other women … and strength … and courage. Thank you for this post. I can’t wait to hear about all your adventures. 💜

Wow. Well, you may say you’re not a joiner—but to me, you’re very much a leader. The way you’ve gathered and cultivated community, drawn people in with your creativity, your writing and presence—it’s something truly special. I’m so grateful for the space you’ve helped shape. Meeting with you and the others feels like the kind of grounded magic that this midlife-into-elderhood passage is meant to hold!

Hi Heidi. A potent post that I resonate with on many levels. I'll be checking out the documentary, The (M) Factor, and look forward to more!!

Thank you, Rhaine! To be honest I'm not sure the documentary would resonate....I have some *thoughtful critiques* of The M Factor—particularly its focus on the difficulties and physical challenges of the transition—like menopause itself is an unrecognized pathology. I still found it valuable as a catalyst. It sparked interest, brought people into the conversation, and gave us a shared starting point.

That said, the narrative I resonate with more is the one I hear from many of the Sirens—some of whom are already on the other side of menopause. Their lives and stories remind me that this transition isn’t just fire and brimstone. There’s another chapter —one marked by clarity, vitality, and a different kind of power. And those stories deserve to be told, too. I would love to make a documentary from these and you would be in it! :)
