What are *The Pink Zones*?
You’ve heard of the Blue Zones? Well, this is the Pink Zones!
I coined this term out of a desire to tell a different story than the one dominating wellness posts and articles about how to “survive” menopause and age gracefully (ie. by halting visible evidence of aging).
I see a lot of anti-aging directives and belly-fat-busting tips focused on what an “empowered” menopause looks like.
I want to talk about what an empowered midlife and beyond truly feels like.
What conditions allow women to thrive in their second half of life and beyond?
Where are places or cultures that support this kind of thriving?
I want to find these stories and share them with you!
What kind of community am I looking to create here?
This space is pro-aging and pro-thriving!
My intention is to share my own coming-of-age journey both personally and as a doctor with over 20 years of experience focused on women’s health.
To let you in on the insights I have gathered from my personal, interpersonal and professional fieldwork.
To learn and grow from your insights also! —I welcome your stories in comments and messages.
To focus on what coming of age well feels like rather than what it looks like.
And even, while calling out the harmful ways that aging and menopause have been portrayed…I want to give more attention to what I am for more than what I am against.
I want to connect with you, no matter your age, if you wish to be healthy, joyful and whole in midlife and beyond]
Thank you for joining me in finding and fostering more Pink Zones!
Warmly,
Heidi
